Slower construction and consumers continuing to shop in Oregon may be to blame for sales tax numbers that suggest Clark Countys business growth slowed last year.
The county failed to keep pace with the states retail-sales growth in the third quarter of 1997, according to a new report from the Washington Department of Revenue. Fourth-quarter statistics covering the months of October, November and December have not been released.
