(Kaleidoscope) (U-WIRE) BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- The public expects hospitals, schools, and the community to shoulder most of the responsibility when it comes to detecting child abuse. They often cannot handle the load.
April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month. As part of the continuing effort to stem child abuse, the Alabama Council on Child Abuse is holding a special seminar for day care providers, guidance counselors, school nurses, school personnel, Department of Human Resources and mental health workers, as well as anyone else who comes in contact with children.
