Article: UT President supports push for Asian-American Studies

(Daily Texan) (U-WIRE) AUSTIN, Texas -- UT President Larry Faulkner said Wednesday he is supportive of student efforts to create an Asian-American Studies program at the University.

"This is a rapidly growing population in the U.S., and there are cultural issues that can be the basis of meaningful scholarship and courses," Faulkner said.

The show of support came after a meeting with students upset that the University, which includes more than 4,000 Asian-American students, has no Asian-American studies program.
