The International Cricket Council will send a team of investigators
to Zimbabwe later this year to find out if it will be safe to play
World Cup 2003 matches there, the world's cricket governing body said
Wednesday.
"Security of players is one of our main concerns at any tournament,
" Malcolm Speed, the ICC's chief executive told reporters ahead of
the 12-nation Champions Trophy that is being staged in the Sri Lankan
capital.
"We know of the security concerns, so we have decided to send a team
to find out safety and security aspects in Zimbabwe," Speed said.
