Tropical storm Hanna threatens Gulf Coast

MIAMI, Sep 13, 2002 (United Press International via COMTEX) -- Tropical storm Hanna, drifting in the northern Gulf of Mexico, was expected to turn north Friday and carry ifs 45 mph winds ashore overnight in a warning area between Grand Isle, La., and Apalachicola, Fla.

Forecasters at the National Hurricane Center said it was not expected to reach hurricane strength before it hits the coast.

In addition to the tropical storm warning area from Grand Isle to Apalachicola there was a watch in effect that extended further south to the Suwannee River in Florida.
