Did George Mallory and his climbing partner Andrew Irvine reach
Mount Everest's summit before perishing on its slopes in 1924?
The plot thickened in 1999 when news spread around the world that
Mallory's body had been found high on Everest by the Mallory and Irvine
Research Expedition team led by Eric Simonson. The discovery was documented
