The crew attempting to return Keiko the killer whale to the wild is
preparing to choose a quiet place for the "Free Willy" movie star
to spend the winter after he turned up in a Norwegian fjord.
"What we want is a place with more killer whales, less people and
a local community that is supportive," David Phillips, part of Keiko'
s team, told The Associated Press on Thursday.
The roughly six-ton orca, who spent most of his nearly 25-year life
in captivity, was released in Iceland in mid-July and promptly swam
some 1,400 kilometers (870 miles) to Norway, the only country that
commercially hunts whales despite a global ban.
