Qld: Doctor criticised over Naltrexone treatment

BRISBANE, Sept 10 AAP - A controversial doctor treated a drug-addicted
pregnant woman
with naltrexone even though its use was not considered safe in pregnancy,
the Health Practitioners'
Tribunal was told today.
The Queensland Medical Board has accused Dr Stuart Reece of endangering
the safety
of patients and being "grossly deficient" in the treatment of drug
addicts.
The board forced the Brisbane doctor last year to stop the use
of naltrexone and rapid
opioid detoxification to treat heroin addicts, pending an investigation.
