Eleven Clark County farmers will throw open their gates to the
public Saturday in the fourth annual harvest celebration day.
The event is designed to connect city folks and farmers in an
appreciation of local food growing and marketing.
"It's important for people to understand that the fresh food on
their dinner plate doesn't grow at the grocery store; it comes from
farms," said the state's "Heart of the Garden" program manager, Shannon
Hitchcock. "And when we buy local products, we are directly supporting
our local farmers."
The event is supported regionally by the Cascade Harvest Coalition
