ZOLDER, Belgium, Oct 9 AAP-AFP - Tasmanian Mark Jamieson opened
Australia's medal count
at the world road cycling championships here today, claiming silver
in the junior men's
time trial.
The 18-year-old posted a time of 28min40.74sec for the 23.2km distance
to finish just
10.36sec behind gold medallist, Russian Mikhail Ignatiev.
Italy's Vincenzo Nibali claimed the bronze, 25.98 sec slower than
the Russian.
Wagga Wagga's Richard Moffatt, who celebrated his 18th birthday
three days ago, placed
11th, 1:00.43 off the winning time.
The result was the reverse of the individual pursuit at the junior
