A Thai-led telecommunications joint venture is preparing to open the
first mobile phone service in the isolated communist country of North
Korea later this month, one of the company's executives said Wednesday.
Loxley Pacific, an affiliate of Loxley PCL, will deliver 5,000 phones
to Pyongyang to be used initially by diplomats, representatives from
international organizations and government officials, said Loxley
Pacific chief Jinggai Hanchanlash.
Loxley, which will supply the entire network, is considering Ericsson
as the supplier of phone handsets, but will make its final decision
