Article: Queer Awareness Month focuses on education

(Columbia Daily Spectator) (U-WIRE) NEW YORK -- The group that gathered Wednesday evening, Oct. 16, met to eat Indian food and chat. They were strangers -- undergraduate students, graduate students, and one professor -- linked together by one common bond: an interest in queer issues. Over dinner that night, they discussed political activism, poetry, and their weekend plans.

This event, one of many this month, embodied the main goal of Queer Awareness Month: to educate and unite all students about sexuality. The last event of the month, a screening of the movie Fenced Out, took place last night.
