Congo forcibly expelled about 20 Rwandan Hutu rebel leaders, repudiating
their onetime military allies after a new peace deal with neighboring
Rwanda, the rebels and Congo officials said Thursday.
The men were political leaders of Rwandan Hutu rebels who had fought
alongside the government in the 4-year, multination war in Congo.
They were shipped home to Rwanda on Monday, after being blocked on
a Congo River beach when they had tried to cross out of western Congo.
"Twenty figures of our movement were uprooted on the pretext of being
moved to South Africa, and were sent by force to Kigali," the Rwandan
