Dateline: ANKARA, Turkey The leader of the Islamic-rooted party that swept Turkey's national elections said Monday he would travel to regional rival Greece to lobby for Turkey's bid to join the European Union.

Recep Tayyip Erdogan, whose Justice and Development party won an overwhelming majority in parliament, said Greek Prime Minister Costas Simitis was the first foreign leader to call him after the election victory Sunday.
