Dateline: UNITED NATIONS Secretary-General Kofi Annan dismissed the Iraqi parliament's opposition to the tough new U.N. resolution and said Tuesday that he hopes the government will accept the Security Council's plan to resume U.N. weapons inspections.

"I'm waiting for a formal response from the government," Annan told a news conference. "I don't think the Iraqi parliament was talking to me. I think it was addressed to the people of Iraq."
