Fed: Young girl loses sight in Nauru detention: claim

BRISBANE, Nov 13 AAP - A four-year-old Afghani asylum seeker has lost almost all her sight amid complaints of inadequate health care at a detention centre on Nauru, migrant groups claim.

The young girl, Mahdia Rasuli, was detained with her family on the island as part of the federal government's so-called Pacific Solution.

Hazara Ethnic Society of Australia president Hassan Ghulam, of Brisbane, said the young girl had developed an eye infection, believed to be conjunctivitis, before going totally blind in one eye and losing almost all her sight in the other.
