Base: Japan's Matsui falls to Bonds in home run derby

TOKYO, Nov 15 Reuters - Japan's top slugger and soon to be export Hideki Matsui had an unsuccessful test drive today in front of his home fans and possibly his next employer.

Japan's best power hitter took part in a home run derby against San Francisco Giants' Barry Bonds, arguably the most dangerous slugger in world baseball.

In a 20 swing contest, Matsui hit five home runs, while Bonds blasted eight.

The contest stirred memories of a similar battle between Sadaharu Oh and Henry Aaron in Tokyo 28 years ago, which was won by "Hammerin' Hank".
