Belgium said Wednesday it granted two government ministers from Zimbabwe
visas to attend an international meeting despite an European Union-
wide travel ban on officials closely linked to president Robert Mugabe.
"We are keeping to our international commitments," said Belgian government
spokesman Didier Seeuws. "There is a travel ban but there are exceptions
for international meetings."
Seeuws said Belgium had sought the advice of all EU nations, including
Britain, before granting the visas to Minister of State for State
Enterprises Paul Mangwana and Deputy Finance Minister Chris Kuruneri.
