Fed: Howard says public should wander through Parliament House
CANBERRA, Dec 1 AAP - Australians should be able to wander through
Parliament House
while logical security precautions were being taken, Prime Minister
John Howard said today.
Mr Howard rejected claims nothing had been done to upgrade security
at Parliament House
in the wake of the Bali bombings in October.
"I don't accept we've done nothing about security in Parliament
House," he told the Nine Network.
Mr Howard said it was a matter of striking the right balance between
sensible security
measures and allowing the public proper access to their institutions.
