The Atlanta Braves managed to keep one of their two aces.

Greg Maddux accepted the team's offer of salary arbitration Thursday, the equivalent of signing a one-year deal for the 2003 season. The four-time Cy Young Award winner had been a free agent.

Tom Glavine already left the Braves, agreeing to a three-year contract with the New York Mets.

"My Christmas wish list included having both Maddux and Glavine," closer John Smoltz said. "I guess one out of two isn't bad, although I don't think we're done making moves."
