NSW: Appeal for information in koala killing
SYDNEY, Dec 24 AAP - Wildlife officers are calling for help from
the public after a
koala was found shot dead north west of Sydney.
The body of the female koala was found in the backyard of a home
in Colo Heights last
Friday and retrieved by the RSPCA, the National Parks and Wildlife
Service (NPWS)
An examination showed the animal had been shot in the chest.
NPWS spokeswoman Samantha Mattila said she was sickened by the
koala's killing, especially
as the tiny Hawkesbury colony was struggling to survive.
