Thailand needs to find a proper strategy to cope with emerging China,
while
the country also has to boost its competitiveness - in particular
in education
and information and communications technology - for sustainable growth.
These were among the conclusions of a roundtable seminar of young
economists held recently by The Nation.
Chayodom Sabhasri, a lecturer at Chulalongkorn University's faculty
of
economics, urged policy-makers to take the emergence of China - including
its participation in the World Trade Organization - as an opportunity.
Thailand and China should be allies, he said.
