CANBERRA, Jan 10 AAP - You could almost feel sorry for the French.

Lady Luck certainly wasn't looking out for them during today's Australian Open draw.

No prizes for guessing Emilie Loit's impending fate after she drew world No.1 Serena Williams in the first round and there's little hope for French wildcard Camilie Pin, up against ninth seed Lindsay Davenport, or promising young talent Marion Bartoli, who'll face 11th seed Magdalena Maleeva of Bulgaria.
