NEWARK - Hudson County Freeholder William C. Braker formally proclaimed
his innocence Tuesday as he was arraigned on charges of extorting
bribes from a psychiatrist seeking contracts with the county and the
Jersey City Police Department.
Braker, 56, of Jersey City, who resigned as deputy police chief in
his hometown in November, was indicted last month on charges of taking
