Crosstown rivals AC Milan and Inter Milan, tied atop the Serie A standings
after 16 rounds, are approaching the midseason target this weekend
at a record pace, with high hopes and chances to bring back the league
title to Italy's financial and soccer capital.
With 11 wins, three draws and two losses in the current campaign,
the Milan teams have collected 36 points each and could equal AS Roma'
s halfway point record (39) set in 2001 when the Roman team sailed
to its first title win in 18 years.
In Sunday's Round 17, AC Milan plays host to underdog Piacenza at
San Siro while Inter Milan is at lowly Perugia.
