Al Sharpton, in red tie, white shirt, and blue suit, clasped the lectern at his Harlem headquarters Monday afternoon like a taxi driver grabbing a steering wheel. He scanned the crowd, then grinned one of those old Reverend-Al-street-theater grins that told you he was about to have some fun.
