The editor of the Akron Beacon Journal has resigned effective March
1, citing personal reasons.
In a memo to her staff on Monday, Jan Leach said she had struggled
to "juggle demands for editor, mother, wife, community involvement
and more."
Leach, 47, said she was giving up some of her many tasks. She has
been editor since March 1998.
James N. Crutchfield, publisher and president, said the search for
Leach's replacement would begin immediately.
