NSW: February worst time for child asthma attacks, Knowles warns
SYDNEY, Feb 6 AAP - February is the peak period for child asthma
attacks and prevention
needed to begin now, NSW Health Minister Craig Knowles warned today.
Mr Knowles said hospital admissions showed child asthma attacks
tended to peak about
two weeks after the start of the school year.
He said children aged five to nine were most affected by the seasonal
epidemic.
"We are encouraging parents of young children to start increasing
preventative medication
before the potential peak in asthma attacks, which is about 16 days
after school returns,"
