NEWARK - A legislative panel unanimously approved a proposal to ban smoking in public places, including restaurants, casinos, and many bars in New Jersey.

New Jersey's Clean Indoor Air Act, approved 5-0, would ban smoking in all indoor public places unless there is an enclosed smoking area with its own ventilation system. Smokers and business owners could be fined $100 and $250, respectively, for a first offense. The bill' s ...
