Animal Tales: Polar bears like this winter
Feb 21, 2003 (United Press International via COMTEX) -- It might be
a rough winter for people living on the U.S. Eastern Seaboard, with
its record snowfalls and below-freezing temperatures, but for a group
of rescued polar bears, the snow and cold are just fine.
"Alaska is loving this winter. She makes polar bear angels in the
snow, she sticks her nose in it, she plays in it," Ben Gross, spokesman
for the Baltimore Zoo, told UPI's Animal Tales. "When we had our first
snowstorm we believe it was the first time she saw snow. She was a
little tentative, but with a little encouragement, she was as happy
as could be ...
