During the past five years, enrollment in Clark County private
schools has grown three times as fast as public-school enrollment.
This school year, more than 3,250 students attend the county's 18
private Christian, Catholic and nonreligious schools.
That compares with more than 70,000 students who attend public
schools in Clark County.
The private-school trend, mirrored nationally, shows county residents
are increasingly willing to pay for what they believe is a better
education. It also may illustrate a growing disenchantment with public
schools among a small percentage of the population.
