(Mustang Daily) (U-WIRE) SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. -- After surging ahead in the opening minutes of Thursday's game, the Cal Poly Mustangs fell behind and were unable to regain the lead in their 68-62 loss to UC- Irvine. But Cal Poly bounced back for a 76-64 victory over Long Beach State in the home finale Saturday night.

UC-Irvine entered Thursday's game leading the Big West. The Anteaters had won their last six straight and the Mustangs their last three.

The Mustangs were confident going into the game but knew UC-Irvine would be a tough opponent, Cal Poly head coach Kevin Bromley said.
