Destiny and irony were the buzz words at Durban's Kingsmead ground
Monday as South Africa was once again ousted from a World Cup by a
sudden burst of rain.
Heavy showers stopped South Africa during a crucial World Cup group
match against Sri Lanka that it needed to win to advance to the tournament'
s second round.
The rain-hit game was declared a tie with South Africa on 229 for
six from 45 overs in reply to Sri Lanka's 268 for nine in 50 overs.
The teams were even on modified totals under the formula used to determine
the outcome of rain-interrupted matches.
