Dateline: BANGKOK, Thailand King Bhumibol Adulyadej was admitted to a Bangkok hospital Tuesday for a hernia operation, the Royal Household Bureau said.

The operation took place at state-run Siriraj Hospital, where the king and other members of the royal family are usually treated, a statement from the bureau said. It did not give details about the king's condition or say if the operation had been completed.
