(Daily Illini) (U-WIRE) CHAMPAIGN, Ill. -- Wearable computers, which
have been an important tool for firefighters and emergency service
workers for several years, could be the blueprint for the future of
the construction industry.
University of Illinois assistant professor of architecture George
Elvin is leading a University study to test possible uses for these
devices. The lightweight, wearable computers are worn on the user'
s belt and consist of a central processing unit and a flat panel display.
Construction workers often have problems viewing design instructions
at the work site because conventional blueprints are too large to
