An alliance of farmers, environmentalists and academics yesterday protested against a government policy that would allow field testing of genetically modified organisms (GMOs) before they have been proven safe. The groups said it was too risky for local species and human health, as there is no conclusive scientific proof of the safety of GMO crops.
