Those large covered driveways typical to suburban hotels won't
be part of Vancouver's downtown hotel and conference center.
Instead, an urban-style design, with glass canopies, a two-story
lobby and a grand staircase, has been selected for the $68.6 million
project.
The Vancouver Downtown Redevelopment Authority board of directors
voted unanimously Friday night to select FaulknerUSA of Austin, Texas,
as general contractor.
The decision, reached after a six-hour meeting that included presentations
from three different contractor-architect teams, pushes Vancouver'
s project one big step closer to reality.
