Dateline: COPENHAGEN, Denmark Caroline Carlsen, the housekeeper of late writer Karen Blixen, the author of "Out of Africa," has died. She was 92.

Carlsen, who lived at Rungstedlund estate, the writer's home-turned- museum 25 kilometers (15 1/2 miles) north of the capital, Copenhagen, died Tuesday, said Tor Dinesen, Blixen's nephew.

"With her disappearance, part of the soul of Rungstedlund has disappeared, " he said. The cause of death was not given.

Carlsen was hired by Blixen, who used the pen name Isak Dinesen, in 1949 as her housekeeper and cook.
