Defending champion Juventus consolidated its lead in the Italian Serie
A with a costly 2-0 victory over eight-man crosstown rival Torino
on Saturday.
While moving six points clear of runner-up Inter Milan ahead of Sunday'
s matches of Round 27, La Juve lost key players Pavel Nedved and David
Trezeguet to injury ahead of Wednesday's Champions League first-leg
quarterfinal against FC Barcelona.
Czech midfielder Nedved limped off the field with a bruised right
knee, following a rough tackle in the 16th. Trezeguet, the French
striker, dislocated his left shoulder following a diving header in
the 30th.
Juventus doctors later said Trezeguet will need 10 days ...
