over Kirkuk, Iraq, April 5, 2003. Iraqi soldiers built a series
of oil trenches surrounding the city in an effort to hamper U.S.-led
air strikes on their positions. Several of the outermost trenches
were not set fire when the Iraqi soldiers quickly withdrew many
of their forces surrounding Kirkuk. (skm) 2003
