PERTH, April 8 AAP - Charles Darwin's great great grandson has played a key role in protecting Australia's biodiversity by helping establish a West Australian bush reserve larger than some countries.

Named after the famous naturalist Charles Darwin, the 68,600 hectare reserve is the former sheep station White Wells, a four-hour drive north-east of Perth.

The reserve is rich in plant species diversity and larger than countries including Singapore, Monaco and Liechtenstein .

It was bought by the Australian Bush Heritage Fund after a campaign raised over $1 million, including $300,000 from Darwin's ...
