Karen Hughes, who left the White House to tend to affairs at her own
house, is readjusting to life in Texas.
"In Texas, a terror alert means I'm about to take my 15-year-old out
to practice driving," she said. "It's really been a lot of fun."
Hughes, who left her job as the White House's communications director
to spend more time with her son and husband, is working on a book,
and delivers a handful of paid speeches each month, discussing national
policy, her role in the White House and her choice to leave.
