Even in freezing temperatures, Pedro Martinez bounced right back from
the worst outing of his career.
Martinez allowed just two hits in seven innings as the Boston Red
Sox beat the Tampa Bay Devil Rays 6-0 on a chilly Thursday night.
Kevin Millar and Doug Mirabelli hit solo homers and the Red Sox scored
another four runs in the sixth en route to their fourth consecutive
victory.
Several players wore hoods under their caps that left only their eyes
and noses exposed to temperatures that dropped from a gametime 33
degrees (just above zero Celsius). The wind was blowing at 15 mph
(24 kph) when Martinez threw his first pitch.
