April's first tropical storm dies

MIAMI, Apr 24, 2003 (United Press International via COMTEX) -- Ana, the first tropical storm ever recorded in April, has disappeared into a weather front over the Atlantic east of Bermuda, the National Hurricane Center said Thursday.

"The system is expected to move over cold water and become fully extratropical," hurricane forecaster Lixion Avila said.

The last fix on Ana's position was at 11 p.m. Wednesday when it was located at latitude 32.3 north, 48.9 west, or 1,170 west-southwest of the Azores. It was moving east at 13 miles an hour with sustained winds of 40 mph.
