Dateline: LONDON With manager Glenn Roeder recovering from a minor stroke, former West Ham player Trevor Brooking on Thursday was named caretaker manager for the last three matches of the season.

Brooking, a member of the club's board, steps in after Roeder collapsed following the Hammers' 1-0 win over Middlesbrough on Monday. Roeder remains hospitalized in stable condition.
