The Palestinian Legislative Council today approved a new Cabinet led
by Prime Minister Mahmoud Abbas. The lawmakers met in the West Bank
town of Ramallah, and they endorsed the cabinet list by a vote of
51-to-18. The approval of the new Palestinian government clears the
way for renewed peace efforts with the Israelis. In a speech before
the vote, Prime Minister Abbas called for an end to the armed chaos
of the past two and a half years. NPR's Peter Kenyon reports ...
