On New Year's Day 1921, before there was a Cotton Bowl or a Sun Bowl,
the first bowl game was played in Texas.
Now, more than eight decades later, another bowl will finally be played
in Fort Worth.
Plans were officially revealed Monday for the inaugural Fort Worth
Bowl, which will be played Dec. 23, at 46,000-seat Amon Carter Stadium
on the TCU campus. It will be the only game played that night and
will be televised by ESPN, whose regional group spearheaded the bowl'
s formation.
The bowl, approved by the NCAA last week, will match teams from the
Big 12 and Conference USA.
