Dateline: LITTLE ROCK, Ark.
Wal-Mart Stores Inc. will phase out Kathie Lee Gifford's clothing
line from its stores this year, company officials said Thursday.
Wal-Mart has been gradually reducing its stocks of the apparel for
several seasons, spokeswoman Karen Burk said from the company's Bentonville,
Ark., headquarters.
According to Gifford publicists, the former TV host and the world'
s largest retailer mutually agreed to end the clothing line in 2003
when they negotiated a three-year contract extension in 2000.
The company still has a good relationship with Gifford, and is pleased
with the success of her clothing line in stores since 1995, Burk said.
