Dateline: SAO PAULO, Brazil Striker Barros Schelotto bagged three goals Thursday as Argentina' s Boca Juniors defeated Brazil's Paysandu 4-2 to advance to the quarterfinals of the Copa Libertadores.

Boca Juniors won the home-and-away series 4-3 on aggregate. The Argentine side needed to win by a difference of two goals after it was stunned by Paysandu 1-0 at La Bonbonera stadium in the first leg.

Paysandu, playing in its first Libertadores, lost despite outshooting Boca Juniors 15-8 at a packed Mangueirao stadium in Belem.

Despite the elimination, Paysandu players and coaches were applauded after the match.
