Fed: Hotel occupancy rates slump

Hotel occupancy rates across the country have continued to slump with no immediate recovery in sight.

The latest Australian Hotels Association survey of occupancy rates has found the national average occupancy level for April was 65.7 per cent -- down 7 per cent from March.

The average room rate was also down more than $7 to $135.

Association executive director RICHARD MULCAHY says the association isn't yet panicking.
